WOODLEA UNVEILS NEW SKATEPARK

22 Jan 2025

The Council of Woodlea has unveiled the Aintree Recreation Reserve Skate Park, a key feature of the Active Open Space precinct currently under construction.

Located at the corner of Recreation Road and Wildwood Road in Aintree, the exciting new facility is designed with a variety of ramps, rails, and smooth surfaces, offering a dynamic space for skateboarders, BMX riders and scooter enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to enjoy.

Woodlea Landscape Manager Thomas Banham expresses his pride in the project, highlighting the dedication and hard work of his team to ensure the skatepark meets the highest standards of safety and design.

“We wanted to create an environment that not only caters to skaters, but also enhances the overall aesthetic and functionality of the Active Open Space precinct,” says Banham.

The broader development, set to open in early 2025, will feature a range of amenities designed to promote healthy, active lifestyles. Upon completion, the precinct will feature a state-of-the-art sports pavilion, two expansive soccer fields, an inclusive all-abilities playground, BBQ facilities, a spacious dog park, and the dynamic skate park.

Woodlea Project Director Matthew Dean says the skatepark will provide a fantastic opportunity for the community to engage in healthy, outdoor activities.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the community embrace and enjoy this new space, where people of all ages can connect, have fun, and challenge themselves. We’re thrilled to see it come to life and look forward to watching it become a favorite destination for residents and visitors alike,” he says.

Spanning 10 hectares, the Active Open Space precinct will offer a diverse range of recreational facilities designed to cater to all ages and interests, enhancing the quality of life for residents.

With key elements like the skatepark already open, the precinct is well on its way to becoming a hub for health, activity, and social interaction.

Upon its full opening in early 2025, this transformative space will feature state-of-the-art amenities that underscore Woodlea’s commitment to fostering community engagement and active lifestyles in the West.
