THE PERFECT COMMUNITY PLAYGROUND

The Hadspen Bull Run Reserve playground is an excellent example of a community playground that suits everyone! Located within the Meander Valley Council in Tasmania, the park is a central hangout for the community in Hadspen.

The Meander Valley Council engaged adventure+ to create this new space because of their ability to create something unique and due to the thoughtful play space design adventure+ presented.

adventure+ is well known by councils, landscape architects and schools all around Australia for their serious approach to playground design, customisation ability, and quality Australian made products.

The vast range of equipment within the park is what makes this playground so special. There is something for all ages and interests, with a play unit, flying fox, multi-user rocker, wheelchair carousel, swings, single rocker, interactive panels, and a fitness station.

While there is plenty for children, the fitness station also caters to the older demographics who may mind the children on the playground, or for those wanting to do their morning workout outdoors. A well-designed play space includes a diverse range of play types and this playground design ticks that box perfectly.

Having the playground accessible was an important feature in the brief provided to adventure+. To reflect this, their design team included rubber paths for access through the playground, with access to low-level interactive panels and a wheelchair inclusive carousel.

With their serious approach to play, adventure+ always aim to make their playground designs engaging and enjoyable. Having the play unit thoughtfully designed to cater to senior and junior children is just one example of this.

Making the playground attractive is also essential. adventure+ play consultant John Kelsey worked closely with the council to select a modern colour scheme with natural elements. The combination play equipment also included a customised play panel with an engraved bull image to tie the design to the park's name.

Like the council, the community was thrilled with the outcome and will enjoy the space for many years to come.
