Kidsafe Playground Advisory Units

Background

Designing playgrounds is exciting and rewarding. The Australian Standards for playgrounds are the baseline for designers, manufacturers, owners and operators to achieve challenging playspaces for children in a safe, creative environment. The Kidsafe Playground Advisory Units, available in NSW, SA, WA, Queensland, NT and Tasmania, are a valuable resource to assist in ensuring safety, managing risk and providing inspirational, inclusive, challenging and educational playspaces. The other Kidsafe Offices in ACT and Victoria can also support the industry by arranging support and resources via their qualified Kidsafe colleagues.

Association Profile

Kidsafe offices across Australia are independent, not-for-profit charities dedicated to preventing unintentional death and serious injury to children. Kidsafe advocates on child safety issues and undertakes public awareness campaigns. It provides information and guidance to parents and carers, education and care services, schools, government and non-government agencies, community organisations and industry. The Kidsafe vision, A Safer World for Kids, aims to minimise risks that can lead to injury in children aged 0–15 years. Kidsafe is a national organisation with over 40 years’ experience in working across a range of communities supporting stakeholders across sectors including education and care services, local, state and territory governments, play related research, child safety advocates, as well as various industry groups and peak bodies.

Nationally recognised Playground Inspector courses
A range of workshops and webinars on topics including playground safety and inspection, maintenance, compliance, Australian standards and regulations, inspiring design, equipment selection and natural play.

Community consultation
