FUTURE OF FREMANTLE ENDORSED BY WA GOVERNMENT

A 50-year plan to turn the Fremantle port into one of the world’s greatest waterfront cities has been endorsed by the Western Australian Government. The Future for Fremantle project to revitalise the Fremantle Inner Harbour was launched off the back of the state’s decision to make Kwinana, to Perth’s south, the preferred location for a new container port for long-term freight activities, to be called Westport.
FINAL PLANS FOR SYDNEY'S AEROTROPOLIS TAKE OFF

The Western Sydney Aerotropolis is set to take-off, with the release of the Minns Labor Government’s Aerotropolis Sector Plan and the official opening of the First Building in Bradfield City Centre. The new precinct is set around the new Western Sydney Airport, which is set to open by the end of 2026.
QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT REVEALS CONTROVERSIAL VENUE PLANS FOR 2032 OLYMPICS

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has made a major election pledge reversal, unveiling a large infrastructure overhaul for the 2032 Olympic Games, including a new 60,000-seat stadium to be built at Victoria Park. The state’s plan, titled “Delivering 2032 and Beyond” has been formed in response to the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority’s (GIICA’s) 100-Day Review, which was delivered to the government on 8 March 2025.
EARLY DESIGNS FOR COMMONWEALTH PARK OVERHAUL REVEALED

Potential designs for a refreshed Commonwealth Park in Canberra's National Triangle have been released, including an aquatic centre, light rail stop, Ferris wheel and landscaping to make the park's annual tulip festival, Floriade, a more permanent fixture. Commonwealth Park Concept Vision 2025 outlines the National Capital Authority's early ideas on how the park could evolve over the coming decades, exploring options and opportunities for renewal while preserving the park’s current uses and character.
PLANS FOR MT COOT-HA PRECINCT UNVEILED

Mount Coot-tha is set to undergo a major transformation, with Brisbane City Council appointing Brisbane Sustainability Agency to deliver a new long-term master plan focused on sustainable tourism, nature-based experiences and post-quarry rehabilitation. At its heart, the plan aims to make Mt Coot-tha more accessible, more exciting and even more loved by locals and visitors alike.
CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON VICTORIA'S LARGEST CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT

Construction has officially begun on Harkness Memorial Park, which has been in the pipeline since 1972. The largest cemetery development in Victoria’s history, the park seeks to reimagine the public cemetery, delivering a space that is first and foremost a sanctuary for families to remember and grieve. As an innovative community space, new public facilities will make the site a welcoming multi-use space to celebrate life. This includes public access to venues, recreational spaces, suitable retail and parklands.

A new mega-suburb is being developed on the outskirts of northern Melbourne! Victorian Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny has approved the Beveridge North West Precinct, which will include 15,000 new homes, multiple town centres and schools and 13 MCGs’ worth of parks and reserves.

A $2.74 billion precinct has received Priority Development Area (PDA) for Moreton Bay in Queensland, with plans including a marina, a waterfront retail and entertainment centre and the largest open space recreation area in South East Queensland. Almost 20 years in the making, the North Harbour Marina Precinct will open the way to a jobs and economic bonanza for the Moreton Bay region. GURROWA PLACE DEVELOPMENT PROCEEDS WITH HERITAGE APPROVAL

Lendlease has secured final heritage approval for its Gurrowa Place development, clearing the way for construction on one of the largest urban regeneration developments in Melbourne's history. WORK BEGINS ON SYNDEY'S NEW 5-MINUTE CITY

Construction has begun on Burwood Place, a landmark $2.5-billion mixed-use precinct in the heart of Burwood. The build will deliver more than 1,000 homes, cultural infrastructure, retail and green spaces to Sydney’s Inner West. WORLD'S LARGEST INDUSTRIAL TRANSFORMATION IS ONE STEP CLOSER

The world’s current largest industrial land transformation project has taken a major step forward, with a rezoning proposal released to revitalise 200 hectares of land at BlueScope’s Port Kembla site, just south of Wollongong. Now on public exhibition, the proposal outlines plans to rezone a section of BlueScope’s Port Kembla steelworks site, the size of Sydney’s CBD (or the country of Monaco), currently underutilised on the southern edge of the Port Kembla Steelworks. Designed by BIG, the development will transform the land from a closed-off industrial site into a thriving precinct for community, advanced manufacturing and green technologies.
BOTANIC GARDENS MT ANNAN MASTERPLAN OFFICIALLY UNVEILED

The McGregor Coxall Masterplan for the Mt Annan branch of the Botanic Gardens of Sydney has officially been released, with plans to transform Australia’s largest botanic garden into a world class visitor destination in Western Sydney. Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan (ABGMA) spans an enormous 416 hectares, making it bigger than Central Park in New York City. The Garden, which is free to visit, showcases Australia’s unique native flora while also providing essential green space in Sydney’s growing South West. McGregor Coxall were engaged to develop a visionary masterplan and business case to reposition the site as a globally significant destination and important open space asset for the growing Western Parkland City.
PERTH MAKES PLANS FOR AN AIRPORT CITY

A multi-billion-dollar plan to create a “city at the airport” has been unveiled as Perth Airport turns its development sights beyond aviation. The updated Master Plan 2026 is a “long-held vision” of One Airport, integrating all domestic and international commercial flights into a single, expanded airport facility and cementing its position as one of the most important assets in Western Australia.
DRAFT PLANS FOR MOORE PARK SOUTH UNVEILED

The Minns Labor Government has unveiled draft plans for the new Moore Park South development, giving Sydney its first preview of the new world-class public space. Featuring community and sporting facilities and a reconfigured golf offering, the NSW Government has committed $50 million to re-establish the 20-hectare park over the next 3 years, after the current operating agreement expires in mid-2026.
LANDMARK EQUALITY TARGET SET FOR BANK STREET PARK

The NSW government has announced its plans to achieve a groundbreaking equality milestone at Bank Street Park in Pyrmont. Targets have been set to ensure at least 40 percent of the contractors for the construction of the waterfront park are women, a first for the state. The new 1.1-hectare waterfront park on Bank Street will surround the southern pylon of the iconic Anzac Bridge. Infrastructure NSW is working closely with head contractor BESIX Watpac to achieve a minimum target of 40 percent and a stretch target of 50 percent women working on the project, a significant increase on the 12 percent average.
LA TROBE RELAESES MASTERPLAN FOR UNIVERSITY CITY

La Trobe University has released its masterplan for its Bundoora campus in Melbourne's northern suburbs. The $5-billion development will transform the 255ha campus into a mixed-use innovation precinct encompassing three residential villages, a major city centre and even more academic offerings.
PLANS FILED FOR AUSTRALIA'S FIRST ENTERTAINMENT CITY

A bold masterplan for Australia's first fully integrated entertainment city, dubbed Infinity Planet, has been lodged with the Moreton Bay Regional Council. The $2.6-billion tourism precinct, which is to include a theme park and a permanent world expo, plans to be up and running before the 2032 Olympic Games, if approved.
DESIGN FOR 'PETH PARK' UNVEILED

Initial designs have been released of the divisive $217.5 million Burswood sporting and recreation development, known as 'Perth Park'. Forecast to open in 2027, the park is pitched as both a new playground for local families and a way to lure major concerts, Supercars and international events to Perth.

The City of Adelaide has announced one of largest CBD developments with a bold partnership with the State Government and community housing providers Junction and Unity Housing to deliver one of the biggest ever housing and mixed-use developments in the CBD. The landmark City East urban renewal project will transform Adelaide’s eastern precinct with the construction of four towers of up to 39 storeys which will host a world-class community precinct. The proposed mixed-use development would be among the largest of its kind in Adelaide, featuring a 200-room hotel, commercial office spaces and 700 apartments – 200 of which would be affordable.
