PACKING A PUNCH OF FUN AT RED DUNES PLAYTOPIA

Built above an underground carpark within a residential area of Guangzhou, China, a colourful playspace has emerged that using its unique typography to create fun-filled activities for users.
Designed by local studio, XISUI Design, the Red Dunes Playtopia playground takes inspiration from mountains and caves to create a playspace that is built around an arrangement of hills and archways that invite the user to climb and discovery the terrain. Crafted from a load-bearing concrete shell, the playground embraces an organic form that creates unique cave openings throughout the play area.
From playhouses on mountain tops to sloping bridges and slides, this playspace features an abundance of play elements, such as climbing equipment, rope play units, tunnels, stepping stones, slides, tactile climbing frames and more, to keep children of all ages challenged and engaged.
The playground features a contrasting colour palette of red and blues tones that follow the typography of the land. This dynamic colour palette adds of a pop of life to the landscape and captures the eye of passerbyers.
With trees spotted throughout the terrain, most of the soft landscaping sits on the frame of the playground to easily allow for rainwater to drain into the surrounding grounds providing the plant life with water.

The Red Dunes Playtopia playspace demonstrates how fun-filled playgrounds can be introduced to the most uncommon of areas and provide tons of play value in unique and innovative landscape forms.
