Viking Mini loaders were conceived to give Mini Skid Steer Loader (MSSL) customers a better machine to operate and service. Scott McGregor, the founder of Viking, began his career more than 10 years ago as a Mini Skid Steer Operator and then progressed in 2004 to a supplier of spare parts and service through Mini Digger Wholesale. After servicing and supplying spare parts for Dingo Mini Diggers for four years, he founded Viking Mini Loaders to make a better Mini Skid loader.

The Viking team surveyed users and then set about to make a new production MSSL to fulfil their needs. The key items identified in the survey comprised:

1. Comfortable working position
2. Easy to use controls
3. Ability to work in narrow spaces
4. Good working visibility
5. Ground speed with a full load
6. Fast lifting on the arm
7. Fuel economy
8. Long serviceability
9. Attachment flexibility
10. Value for money

The Viking MSSL Tradesman Model ticks all the boxes - with a lot of thought going into the layout of the operating controls and the standing position, the area is free from unwanted protrusions and is comfortable to drive. The Kubota 3 cylinder diesel combined with the Viking proprietary hydraulic circuit gives the Viking excellent ground speed under full load conditions.

The Viking is the fastest MSSL on the market. This is good value for the customers, as it gets the job done quickly. The Kubota 3 cylinder diesel is very economical on fuel, at around 25-30 per cent long running time than conventional petrol driven systems and at the same time giving “heaps” of torque. When the customer wants long service life and performance, it is easy to justify the diesel. And when we put our green hat on, the current diesels meet tier 4 emission output with great fuel economy.

The operating width of the MSSL is also very important and again the “new generation” Viking leads the market with an overall width on “skinny” tyres of 740mm.
