UNVEILING FITZROY'S NEWEST URBAN PARKLET

PTA Landscapes recently completed a remarkable construction project—a one-of-a-kind parklet on Kerr Street in Fitzroy. This vibrant addition to the neighbourhood, designed by Rush Wright Associates, was commissioned by the City of Yarra and reflects thoughtful design and attention to detail.
Strategically positioned in the heart of the suburb, the parklet enjoys a prime location next to the popular Nico's Sandwich Deli. Its strategic placement guarantees a steady flow of visitors and residents throughout the day. The project seamlessly integrates with the surrounding urban environment, incorporating a variety of materials to create a truly distinctive space.
The parklet showcases notable features such as solid Pyrenees stone paving and seating backrests. These materials not only enhance the space's natural beauty but also offer durability and functionality. Visitors can relish the tactile experience of the stone surfaces, deepening their connection with the outdoor environment. 
Additionally, custom powdercoated steel fixtures have been seamlessly incorporated into the design. These fixtures serve a practical purpose while infusing a touch of modern sophistication into the parklet. The interplay between the natural stone and the sleek steel elements creates an intriguing contrast that captures the essence of contemporary urban design.
To augment its visual appeal, bespoke clay pavers and artistically glazed bricks were skilfully employed. These handcrafted elements pay homage to the tough, theatrical and artistic spirit of the inner urban neighbourhood. They harmonise with the surrounding graffiti and street performances, embracing the vibrant character of the community. The unique patterns and textures of these elements create a dynamic visual experience that captivates passersbyers, enticing them to further explore the parklet. 
The parklet's design aims to establish a vibrant and inviting space for the community to enjoy. By incorporating natural materials like stone, pavers and granitic surfacing, a sense of place and belonging is fostered. Visitors can seek solace under the shade of the Plane tree, fully immersing themselves in the urban environment.
