Altona Beach, renowned for its charming esplanade and calm waters, has received a face lift as part of Hobsons City Council’s Open Space Strategy with the help of ACE.

This project, delivered in stages to allow community access to the beach during the summer, will provide a new pedestrian promenade, an upgraded sea wall, improved lighting, a range of public amenities including feature decked seating, various road and landscape enhancements.

ACE’s scope of works included:

• Demolition of existing paving, light poles, and the old sea wall
• Relocation of nominated furniture and sculptures
• Installation of new furniture, including beach showers and picnic shelters
• Construction of two raised timber platforms
• Installation of new concrete paving and light pole upgrades
• Construction of a new sea wall, connecting this to existing infrastructure
• Installation of an irrigation system, as well as sewer and drainage works
• Landscaping soft works, including planting new garden beds and trees

The project was completed ahead of schedule making the enhanced community space ready for summer and open for the community to enjoy.
