Empty areas and alleyways once sheltered and isolated between campus buildings is now an oasis for students and staff to mingle and get some down time from the books. Sibling Architecture were given a brief of improving the amenities of the laneway precinct on campus and making more public domains for everyone. Exceeding expectations, Sibling Architecture delivered a streamline design to improve all qualities of life in the renovated spaces.

The two central areas are the courtyard spaces. Once where brick and cement only stood, now stands new custom seating and high-rise pergolas, lush plant life and over the towering buildings a great source of natural light.

Travellers wanting to enter the courtyard can do so through strolling down one of the many laneways with outstanding vertical height only accentuated by the new seating and pergolas running up the sides of the buildings. As well, the custom directional paving integrated with the minimal line lighting welcomes students and staff into the space with a sense of safety and calm.

Sibling Architecture has pulled out all the stops at RMIT University that will be an attraction among students and staff for many generations to come.
