THE BOTANIST COLLECTION
01 Feb 2018
A new suite of street furniture from botton + gardiner sports a minimalist silhouette combined with a durable foundation that will withstand Australia’s harsh climate with style.
Designed by world-renowned designers, including collaborations by Karim Rashid (Orikami), Yves Behar (Pixel Burst) and Dario Antonioni (Flow), the new Botanist suite is comprised of benches and side tables made from powdercoated lightweight aluminium in a selection of 20 vivid colours. A range of laser cut designs makes each piece a unique statement.
The Botanist collection starts with Flow, a minimalist form that is oven baked to deliver a highly durable and UV-stable finish – at home indoors and out. All Botanist pieces feature a strong support structure and anti-theft security feet.
HAPPY INDOORS AND OUT
The Flow, Flora, and Designer series are ready for outdoor use; employing an industrial grade powdercoating on an aluminium structure that naturally resists corrosion. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, these streamline designs come in a range of coordinating units.
“[The] Flora Bench was intended to combine the technical precision of the Flow line of furniture with the beauty and irreverence of nature. In fact, this piece was the inspiration for the Botanist name. I have always found the intersection of the technical and natural to be fascinating; it highlights the possibilities of human achievement and alludes to the playfulness and casual beauty of nature,” says designer Brandon Lynne.
IMPOSSIBLY THIN
The narrow profile of the Botanist range cleverly conceals the true strength and durability of these stunning pieces.
NESTING END TABLES
With simple forms and maximised surface area, the Flow end tables are made to nest over the Flow cocktail table, combining to create a layered look that highlights the complementary surfaces and materials of each unit.
“Maximum surface area while creating a functional, strong, and modular system of nest-able geometrics was the goal. Reducing the objects to minimal needs became a key design driver. This is why there are three elements, a. the canvas, b. the rib, and c. the feet,” explains designer Dario Antonioni.
Manufactured under licence in Australia by botton + gardiner, a percentage of every sale from the Botanist suite goes to a charity of the designers’ choice.
