The industry’s most comprehensive knowledge sharing program with eight streams, will again focus on Active Cities. As many cities globally are embracing more active community environments, with less traffic and appreciating how it encourages the community to walk, exercise and play more in safer places the NSC has a whole stream on Active Cities, planning for a more active community.

Over the past two years as the Victorian Government has invested in the removal of over 70 dangerous Level crossing’s as part of its Big Build program, which has resulted in many new linear parks being created. This has brought together local governments, community groups and leading urban design specialists that have created an Urban Design framework for the government and community to embrace. These spaces encourage all sectors of the community to be more active, with additional walk and cycle ways, bouldering walls, dog parks, Ping Pong tables, play areas for young children, for older youth and communal gathering areas.
