Sports Diplomacy 2030

In a bid to build a more active Australia, the Australian Government's Office for Sport has released a new sports diplomacy strategy with a clear vision for our sporting future. Take a look.

Sports Diplomacy 2030

In 2018 Australia’s last Sports Diplomacy Strategy expired, prompting the creation of a new stratagem that will take Australia into the future. Working in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Office for Sport released Sports Diplomacy 2030 in February 2019.

This initiative looks to develop closer collaboration between sporting codes across Australian, and develop paths for our nationals sporting excellence to be utilised to enhance the Nation’s influence and reputation internationally to advance our global interests.

Part of that plan - Sport 2030 – is a national sports strategy that demonstrates a bold vision for Australia’s sporting future, designed to ensure that this country becomes “the world’s most active and healthy sporting nation, known for our integrity and sporting success”.

The plan’s four step focus includes:

  • Building a more active Australia
  • Achieving sporting excellence
  • Safeguarding the integrity of sport
  • Strengthening Australia’s sports industry

Bringing together knowledge and insight from experts across the sporting sector, together with the general public who have been active in the submission and consultation process during the policy’s creation, the National Sport Plan looks to empower the Australian people.
