PROUDLY SUPPORTING SOLAR

17 May 2017

The construction of the Broken Hill Solar Farm, one of Australia’s biggest solar projects, was proudly supplied by Mawsons Concrete & Quarries in support of a more sustainable Australia.

Launched into action in 2016, the Broken Hills Solar Plant produces enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 17,000 average New South Wales homes on an annual basis. The solar plant will reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by over 105,840 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per annum - roughly equivalent to removing approximately 29,000 cars from the road. Particulate and heavy metal emissions will also be reduced.

When it comes supplying quality concrete and quarry products, Mawsons Concrete & Quarries are specialists, recognised in the industry as a leading building materials supplier with a reputation for quality and reliability. During construction of the solar farm, Mawsons’ Broken Hill quarry supplied in excess of 19,000 tonnes of 150mm spalls for the project. The concrete for the project was supplied by Mawsons’ Broken Hill concrete plant.

Hard, dense and durable quarry products are a critical component in many civil construction projects, including those at the cutting edge of regional development and environmental sustainability. Mawsons supply erosion control spalls for modern irrigation structures requiring rock protection from the wash of water disturbed by wind or strong currents.

Mawsons also have proven systems to ensure their concrete products are delivered with a consistent level of quality. The company produces decorative and landscape concrete, as well as structural concrete for tilt-up construction - ranging from simple precast home walls to detailed freeway noise barrier finishes, water retaining structures and agricultural facilities.

For environmentally sustainable projects, such as the Broken Hill Solar Farm, Mawsons have the resources to provide environmentally sustainable concrete by processing and incorporating waste materials in concrete mixes. This approach has been adopted successfully in a number of Mawsons' projects.

Mawsons are proud to be associated with a major sustainability project such as the Broken Hill Solar Farm. To view their full range of concrete and quarry products visit www.mawsons.com.au
