PLANT IT RIGHT

07 Jun 2017

With so many factors influencing the success of a planting project, to ensure the best result you need to pick the right planting technique. Auger or Speed Spade? Which one’s right for your project?

THE RIGHT PLANTING TECHNIQUE

Ecoplant Australia is one of Australia’s largest dedicated contract planting companies. Specialising in large-scale mass installation of plants, from smaller tubestock to 400L trees and everything in between - Ecoplant put a lot of plants in the ground every day. To ensure the success of every planting project, Ecoplant offers two main planting techniques.

SPEED SPADE PLANTING

The Speed Spade planting method merely requires a set of bags to hold plants and a purpose built shovel. Planters are lightweight and mobile, and the method has a very limited environmental impact.

To ensure safe planting in hard ground, Ecoplant Australia’s Speed Spade teams are always equipped with an auger - just in case.

Ecoplant recently partnered with Evolve Environmental Solutions to plant out the Gainsborough Greens Precinct 4 Wetland. The goal was to get tubestock plants in the ground fast, so Ecoplant sent their speed spade teams. They installed 350,000 plants in 40 days - finishing the job early!

AUGER PLANTING

Powerful in any ground condition, the one-person earth auger has been the weapon of choice in the civil works industry for years. No ground is too hard and no job is too large for the Auger.

When a client came to Ecoplant to do the planting at their Jordan Springs project, the ground was mostly clay and the team at Ecoplant knew that the Auger was going to be the go to equipment to get the job done. Within a week, 30,000 plants had been installed – making for one very happy client.

Here’s a comparison of Ecoplants’ teams and the factors that influence when they use them.
