MOONDARA STREET PARK UPGRADE

03 Aug 2023

Tarneit's Moondara Street Park has undergone a remarkable transformation thanks to an extensive upgrade by PTA Landscapes who was commissioned by Wyndham City Council. The revitalisation project aimed to enhance the park’s amenities and create a vibrant outdoor space for the community to enjoy.

The parks notable improvements included two new playground areas thoughtfully designed to cater for both junior and senior play, a spacious grassed kickabout area, a half-court basketball court, picnic facilities with BBQ, upgraded pathways and a new circuit path connection and improved seating and landscaping.

The upgraded Moondara Street Park upgrade now offers Tarneit residents with an improved outdoor gathering space and delightful areas for children of all ages to enjoy.

Andrew Wilson, the director of PTA Landscapes, emphasises the importance of pleasant and user-friendly open spaces near residential areas. He states “Having pleasant, welcoming and user-friendly open spaces close to family homes is very important. Parks and playgrounds significantly improve the physical and mental health of a local community, making them a cornerstone for improved quality of life”.

Wilson further highlights the benefits of playgrounds, saying, “Playgrounds provide multisensory experiences that help develop sensory, motor, strength and cognitive skills in children. Play teaches children social skills, how to share fairly, to play co-operatively and to collaborate as part of a group. Community parks and playgrounds provide great opportunities for parents to bond with their children and make connections and interact with others in their community”.

The official opening of the upgraded Moondara Street Park was celebrated with a free BBQ and coffee during the day, followed by food trucks and an evening screening of Bollywood hit Barfi.

PTA Landscapes continues to collaborate with the Wyndham City Council now working together on delivering two stages of the Greening the Pipeline project which will provide further new open green spaces for the community.
