MAXREST MAKES IT EASY

24 May 2017

Repair damaged or spalling concrete with Maxrest from Drizoro for quality concrete repairs that produce a professional result with guaranteed structural integrity.

A name synonymous with quality waterproofing products in Australia, Drizoro also manufactures a range of quality concrete repair products for all types of masonry repair applications.

One of their most popular products, Maxrest, is designed for repairing damaged concrete, spalling concrete, and concrete affected by concrete cancer. Maxrest is a quick-set, non-shrink, non-slump repair mortar that allows for very quick repairs to be undertaken without the use of expensive formwork. Repairs can be completed quickly without the need to partition off areas for extended periods of time.

Maxrest is supplied as a cement powder that is simply mixed with water. When completed Maxrest sets at over 40Mpa, so in most circumstances the Maxrest repair is actually stronger than the surrounding concrete. Areas repaired with Maxrest can be coated with Maxseal, Maxseal Flex or regular paint finishes as desired.

CASE STUDY

A recent repair job using Maxrest was completed in less than a day with excellent results. In this particular case study, the balcony was suffering from concrete cancer that had blown off the render. This type of situation is not only unsightly but can be a potential hazard to passing pedestrians.

To repair the concrete the surface was cleaned to remove any loose concrete. Any exposed reinforcement rods were thoroughly cleaned to remove any rust.

Mixing the Maxrest powder with water, a brushable slurry was formed and applied with a brush to the already damped area.  This primer needs to be left for 10-15 minutes.

Next, the Maxrest powder was mixed to a mortar mix and trowel applied to the surface and formed to balcony edge as needed. As Maxrest can only be applied in layers no greater than 30mm layers, more than one layer was required to reach the greater depth required – leaving 10-15 minutes between each application.

The final result was a perfectly repaired concrete balcony with structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
