PROJECT BACKGROUND

Riverside Park is approximately 23 hectares in size and is managed by Goulburn Mulwaree Council, who are providing much-needed recreational outdoor activities for the immediate and wider community by connecting the surrounding residential developments, aged-care facility, and the existing Wollondilly Walking Track.

The new inclusive playground is a highlight of Riverside Park, which also features an off-leash dog area, 3 kilometres of footpath, solar lighting and an outdoor gym.

Proludic worked seamlessly with Council to design and construct the complete project. The playground design ensures that all children and young people, including those with additional support needs, can play in their local community, alongside their friends and family. Welcoming design features such as plenty of seating and picnic tables, accessible pathways and shade have also been included to support the playgrounds’ important role as a community gathering place. A beautifully crafted sandstone sculpture of a kookaburra, named Tilly by the community, is rapidly gaining recognition as a local icon, standing at the entrance to the playground!

The selection of inclusive play equipment suitable for a wide variety of ages and abilities, the placement of unitary safety surfacing adjacent to accessible play elements, and an accessible pathway provide an inclusive play environment for the whole community.
