GREEN WALLS BRING NATURE INSIDE

13 Jun 2016

This beautiful and consciously crafted eatery in Panama brings the outside indoors with a range of living green design choices that moves customers closer to nature.

Green walls are a beautiful addition to any office or business and can provide aesthetic stimulation where none would otherwise be found. Living green walls make a breathtaking statement by creating alluring and inviting environments. They also improve interior air quality when used inside a building. One business in Panama has created this stunning example, which measurably demonstrates how green walls can enrich a business and craft an atmosphere, making patrons feel like they never walked inside at all.

Through the use of copious amounts of varied vegetation, Panama fusion food eatery T.Bar along with design firm Dos G Arquitectos created an environment that best aligned with the eatery’s values. To fit with the eatery’s evolution into a ‘natural fast food’ franchise, a concept was required that clearly reflected the origin of the franchise, while also representing its new culinary direction. Dos G Arquitectos took the vibe of natural food a step further by bringing nature indoors.

The most striking elements of the project were the natural ones, specifically the green walls. Enormous moss and lichen green walls brightened the indoor space on both sides of the restaurant and in the back, creating a stimulating space where customers can feel like they’re eating in a park.

Additionally, to emphasise the importance of the nature as the central element of the project, large urns with established trees with small tables attached were specially designed to bring customers closer to nature. The designers claim this touch adds to the informal feel of the restaurant.

The design for T.Bar was specifically created to evoke a sense of traditional European atmosphere, using polished concrete for both walls and flooring, which is commonly used create the inner courtyards that can be found in many old areas of Europe.

Dos G Arquitectos founders Ivan Grippaldi and Ginette Gotti said they intentionally offered different types of seating for varying hours of the day, from the modern chairs designed for a quick lunch to the booths for longer seatings. According to the architects, T.Bar requested that patrons be able to watch their food being prepared, and so glass looking into the kitchen was installed.

This eatery is truly a beautiful example of how a business can add nature into the mix to create an atmosphere of tranquility and peace.
