WHAT IS CIVENEX?
CIVENEX is the premier local government and public infrastructure industry expo; where industry and government meet. CIVENEX gathers together local councils, government engineers, technicians and public works directors, along with operations managers, asset and design managers, contractors and many other industry professionals, into an expo setting to showcase new and innovative products, services and businesses.
CIVENEX focuses on bringing both exhibitors and key decision makers within the public works infrastructure industry and local government together, where they might not otherwise engage. CIVENEX offers its exhibitors the opportunity for decades’ worth of business contracts, and really helps introduce and promote brand awareness within the industry.
CIVENEX has been running successfully for over 64 years, and this year is no exception. Previous shows have been very well attended and provided excellent opportunities to facilitate discussions surrounding engineering and public works in New South Wales. With so much knowledge and such a great insight into the industry, the Institute of Public Works (IPWEA) has built up fantastic partnerships and relationships with businesses who not only benefit from exhibiting at CIVENEX but play a large part in the support of IPWEA NSW.
WHO IS IPWEA?
The Institute of Public Works is an association of engineers stretching across Australia and New Zealand who build and maintain billions of dollars of public infrastructure. Although the Institute is relatively small in numbers, the activities of its members touch the lives of tens of millions of people every day; from building footpaths, bridges, railways, wharves and roads, to the development of water and sewer systems, recreational spaces, sporting venues and waste management facilities.
IPWEA’s 4000 members, play an often understated but absolutely vital role in almost every community across the Nation. As the peak association for professionals who deliver public infrastructure, IPWEA provides a broad range of member services and industry-specific advocacy.
To ensure engineering practitioners maintain the high levels of competency demanded by the community, IPWEA provides professional development courses, conferences and technical journals, and establishes formal technical committees to respond to government enquiries. Networking with local and nationwide colleagues also provides an important forum for IPWEA members to share construction knowledge and experiences, which is where conferences, congresses, workshops and CIVENEX comes in.
WHAT'S ON?
Having moved to the iconic ICC building in Darling Harbour, CIVENEX 2020 is set to be our biggest show yet. Running from 19-20 March, with current attendee numbers standing at over 17,000 over the 2 days, 350+ exhibitors, and 300 top-level industry speakers on 21 themed summits over 8 stages, this year's event is one not to be missed.
Our exhibitors and attendees are able to take advantage of the many networking lounges available onsite. A VIP section and a LinkedIn Lounge facilitate networking, and there are many bars and cafes where you can sit relax and take in the atmosphere of this thriving event! Attend as many of the stage talks as you can fit in over the 2 days, where you can listen to industry professionals speaking about new trends, policies and plans for the future.
As an attendee or exhibitor you also have access to the wellness zone, where we will be discussing a range of issues, from safety to mental health, silicosis and stress. We have also managed to secure some past and present players who will be hanging around the NRL Zone. And if that’s not enough, there will be live entertainment throughout the day to keep everyone entertained.
