FESTIVAL OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

02 Jul 2014

The Festival of Landscape Architecture program has officially launched, with the event designed to inspire and engage.

The first Festival of Landscape Architecture: FORECAST program was officially launched on June 30 in Queensland, overlooking the Festival site on the Brisbane River. The Festival Creative Directors Diana Snape, Sharon Mackay and Catherin Bull, in an advisory role, promise a program of participatory experiences and conversations.

“Forecast is designed to inspire and engage by re-imagining the way we meet and celebrate the profession, share our stories and learn through discourse and debate,” said the Creative Directors.

“The Festival will prototype a new approach for Landscape Architecture, reflecting the way we work as designers – transparently, collaboratively and iteratively.”

Amongst the line-up of ‘conversationalists’ is Julie Bargmann (USA), founder of D.I.R.T. studio and internationally recognised as an innovative designer in building regenerative landscapes.

Bargmann has received the American Academy in Rome Fellowship and her work was awarded the National Design Award by Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt Museum. Bargmann’s D.I.R.T. projects have been featured in art and design exhibitions including Documenta and the National Design Centennial.

Along with Julie Bargmann, the Forecast ‘conversationalists’ include:
