The Victorian Government’s COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Fund helps councils transform outdoor areas such as Eltham, for the community to make the post COVID-19 transition easier. The design plan was to embrace the look and feel of Eltham and to complement the existing infrastructure. Features of the project included the landscaping, removal of car parks for the development of green, open spaces, accessibility improvements, and general cleaning and beautification works.

A main feature of the project is the addition of the Eltham Copper Butterfly and local flowering wattle artwork on the roadways. Installed by MPS Paving using its DuraTherm™ product, a lively and fun atmosphere has been renewed to the community space. The beautiful wattle and butterfly designs installed will maintain its rich colours for many years to come  due to the use of the handy DuraTherm™.

MPS Paving’s DuraTherm™ range is a decorative asphalt surfacing system designed for high-traffic areas such as crosswalks and intersections. Tremendous durability ensures DuraTherm™ will maintain its bold look for many years. Fast installation means minimal community disruption and DuraTherm™ uses a thermoplastic material that is inlaid into imprinted asphalt.  It is installed flush with the asphalt, and as a result, it is extremely resistant to wear caused by traffic.
