COX URBAN STREET FURNITURE IN DARWIN
28 Nov 2011
If you thought crocodiles were the only thing that grew big in the Northern Territory you'd be mistaken – seats by Cox Urban Furniture do as well!
Mark Cox, from street furniture company Cox Urban Furniture (CUF), visited Darwin recently to inspect furniture items supplied for the Smith Street Mall redevelopment. Darwin City Council, in consultation with Tract (NT), selected the 120 litre litterbin enclosure from CUF’s aluminium ‘Urban Edge’ range to replace existing stainless steel enclosures in the mall. Selection of various seating items from the same range followed, ensuring a consistent look and feel was maintained.
Versatility offered by the modular nature of ‘Urban Edge’ was fully utilised when Peter Nelson from Tract (NT) collaborated with Mark Cox to design 7.8m and 5.7m lineal seats for the mall. CUF’s high quality glass-reinforced recycled HDPE plastic was combined with aluminium to create visually stunning low-maintenance seats that provide a variety of seating options for both young and old.
“Most people don’t realise that Cox Urban Furniture can work with clients to modify existing designs, and even develop new furniture items based on the style of any of our product ranges,” said Mark. “We’ve worked on projects throughout Australia using this methodology, and at no additional cost to the client.”
