BANKSIA BIRTHDAY CANDLES

07 Aug 2018

Celebrating 30 years, Proteaflora’s ‘Birthday Candles’ are a beautifully tough plant that feature in modern Australian gardens, commercial landscapes and government projects. If you have been looking for a plant to use as a border or on the roadside, this plant is the perfect fit!

Birthday Candles is often specified in designs due to its adaptability as it tolerates heavier soils, moderate frost and dry conditions, once established. The plant develops into a lovely rounded shrub, usually under one metre, and requires no shaping or pruning, making it extremely low maintenance.

Proteaflora was given the exclusive right to propagate Birthday Candles while protected by PBR, and they continue to be the premium producer to this day.

Birthday Candles originate from the south coast of NSW and is the result of Austraflora’s extensive breeding and selection program during the 1970s and 80s, which saw the introduction of many new Australian plants.

Proteaflora have introduced Birthday Candles as flowering pot plants to their partner nurseries in Japan, Italy, USA and South Africa, which have been a resounding success!

Flowering from late summer to mid-winter, the birds and the bees love them and so will you!

Birthday Candles has long production lead times so to secure plants for your project it is best to pre-order now as the team at Proteaflora are starting to take orders for 2019 and 2020.

Proteaflora via their website for more information or to pre-order your variety.
