THE SWEET SCENT OF SPRING IS IN THE AIR

10 Sep 2024

Paradise Plants have an abundance of aromatic plants that are blooming this spring, adorning every curb, garden and public space.

Princess Magnolias

Michelias have now been re-classified as Magnolias, but for our purposes are considered to be evergreen versions of Magnolias. They can be used as bushy shrubs, small trees, hedges, screening, perfumed feature plants, mass planting and large potted plants. Paradise Plants have produced, in the unique Australian climate, many outstanding magnolia seedlings varying in habit and form, from small shrubs to medium trees, all with evergreen habit and so many flowers you can hardly see the leaves! Peak flowering is in winter and spring, with another short burst in the middle of summer, chances are you will smell the Princess Magnolias before seeing them and they are not only captivating, but surprisingly drought-hardy.

Some of Paradise Plants' evergreen beauties that have been specifically selected for their quick, tidy growth habit and magnificent perfumed flowers are:

Princess Cinderella ‘Parcind’ (pbr).

Flowers are creamy white, lightly perfumed and contrast beautifully with the deep green leathery foliage. Can be grown as a tidy, bushy shrub or small tree to 5m but is easily maintained as a 2-3m screen or hedge.

Princess Cleopatra ‘Parcleo’ (pbr).

Flowers are creamy white, blushed with pink and a beautiful perfume with deep green leathery foliage. Can also be grown as a tidy, bushy shrub or small tree to 4m and is easily maintained as a 2-3m screen or hedge.

Princess Little Sarah ‘Parlitsar’ (pbr).

The compact version of her Princess sisters. Easily maintained as a low flowering hedge, or can be grown as a tidy shrub to 2m with small creamy white flowers with a pink blush and deep green leathery leaves.
