ARBORICULTURE AUSTRALIA ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2019

07 May 2019

With only a couple of weeks to go, 2019 will see Arboriculture Australia’s annual conference venture into the outback of Alice Springs with a variety of social events on offer and some big announcements surrounding critical industry information and standards. Don't miss out!

Outback Alice Springs with its stunning sunsets, unique flora and fauna and glorious mountain ranges is the ideal location for the biggest gathering of Australia’s arborists.

Local Alice Springs speakers will add the flavour of the red centre to the conference tour and presentations. They will be joined by a wide variety of renowned Australian and international speakers.

Making the most of the unique conference location, the ATCC will be held at the historic Alice Springs Telegraph Station. The Conference Tour takes in the flora of the Todd River and looks at the arid species of the Olive Pink Botanic Garden.

Social events include exceptional Alice Springs experiences, starting with a traditional Welcome to Country. You'll also experience an outback BBQ, hear from and watch indigenous artists and performers, and get up close and personal with the local wildlife.

This year’s conference will have some big announcements in addition to information and sessions and discussion forums surrounding critical industry information.

AS4970:2009 PROTECTION OF TREES ON DEVELOPMENT SITES REVIEW

AS4970 is considered a critical tool for our industry and is now 10 years old. Standards Australia has advised it must be reconfirmed, withdrawn, made obsolescent or revised.

To take advantage of the largest gathering of arborists in Australia, a facilitated discussion forum will be held to gather feedback for a submission to ensure the Standard remains valid.

Your participation is important to ensure that the Standard is improved and retains its status as a key tool for our industry.

Further information on policies and standards can be found here.
