202020 VISION

16 Oct 2013

The Nursery & Garden Industry Australia is on a mission to create 20% more green spaces in urban areas by 2020.

The Nursery & Garden Industry Australia is on a mission to create 20% more green spaces in urban areas by 2020.

Did you know that kids in tree-lined neighbourhoods play outside 10% more and have lower rates of A.D.H.D and asthma?

Our cities need more plants and trees. They’re good for health and productivity - Indoor plants relieve stress and reduce negative moods by up to 60%. They keep cities cool and reduce pollution - properly placed, mature shade trees help save as much as 30% on summer electric cooling bills for homes. People even heal faster when they’re around them. Yet, so often green spaces get overlooked when plans are drawn and concrete poured.

The Mission

  1. Map, measure, publicise, research and support Australia’s finest green space projects and advocates.
  2. Use these to inspire the people who create our cities to create more green spaces.
  3. Keep inspiring, keep improving so that we can all enjoy more green spaces in our cities by 2020.

Get Involved

We’re looking for projects that improve health, productivity, aesthetics, community, commerce, wellbeing, biophilia, heat effects and pollution.

Add your Project

It can be a new or recent project. It can be indoor or outdoor, large or small. We seek all levels of project that inspire and create best practice, greener urban areas.

Be an Advocate

We don’t just want projects, we want people too. If you believe in the cause, become an advocate and spokesperson.

Become a Partner

We seek partner organisations from government, construction, design, health, sustainability and academia. If you share the vision, share the badge.

Get FREE Tools, PR, Research and Support

The 202020 Vision™ is free to be part of yet comes with big benefits for those who join in.

The 202020 Vision has been initiated by the Australian Nursery Industry. However, the aim is for it to be a collaboration between industry, community and governments.

Does it stop with inspiration?

No, that’s just stage one. Ultimately, we seek simple coordinated policies across our partners so everyone is working to a shared goal with shared measurement tools.

NOW - Find, map, measure and reward Australia’s leading green space projects and people.

NEXT - Work with our partners to simplify, coordinate and reward green space policies and targets across business and government.

YEAR 2020 - Our urban areas are at least 20% greener. Our projects, advocates and partners are seen as leaders. Everyone wins.

To get involved contact Bethan Harris on 02 8097 8746 or 0452 465 209.
