Landscape architect Stratis selected Richter Spielgeräte timber play equipment for the nature-based playspace, which paid homage to its bushland setting and provided an engaging play experience for all ages and abilities.
DESIGN
Using the region’s gold mining history as inspiration, the Diamond Creek Regional Playspace features plenty of timber and natural stone, landscaped rises and an open lawn area. Kids are always in for a surprise when visiting, as gold painted nuggets were scattered into the sandpit area for them to find.
EQUIPMENT
As always, play value is paramount for Urbania. Urbania play partners Richter Spielgeräte supplied some exquisitely crafted timber equipment for the project, including a 50m Cableway which gives kids of all ages the experience of speed and flight, as they whizz freely from one end to the other.
A large Climbing Structure is hugely popular in the natural setting of the playground. Crafted from handprocessed irregular round logs, it allows children to experience heights as they clamber and climb.
The Round Village is like a magnet for kids, drawing in curious children of all abilities. It was created by Richter from four Small Timber Houses on Stilts and a Large Timber House on Stilts. It also includes a Stainless Steel Slide and a specially built wheelchair accessible ramp with bridge.
Pre-schoolers are also well catered for, with a fun Trotter Trail that offers imaginative play through activities such as climbing, balancing, hiding and going through openings. There’s also a Toddlers Swing, which the littlies absolutely love.
A Goldmine Shed provides shelter for the sand pit, where kids get to experiment and learn as they stimulates their senses when experiencing different textures and materials. This section of the park features a range of sand and water play equipment.
