Drinking Water Station: A Fresh Feature in Sydney Metro Stations
Sydney Metro Northwest is Australia’s first fully automated metro rail system, delivering eight new railway stations across Sydney’s north-western suburbs. Completed in 2019, the project required high-quality public amenities to support commuter comfort and accessibility.
To provide easy access to clean drinking water, Fleetwood Urban and Hassell Studio collaborated on the design of a new drinking water station, with Civiq selected to manufacture, supply and install the solution. The Aquafil Elegri drinking fountain was installed at each station, offering a premium, architecturally refined hydration option for public transport environments.
Constructed from stainless steel, the Aquafil Elegri features an anti-bacterial bottle refill nozzle, rear push-button activation and hands-free foot pedal operation. Designed specifically for outdoor public use, the unit combines durability with elegant form.
The result is a stylish, robust and functional drinking water station that enhances the Sydney Metro commuter experience while supporting sustainable hydration across the network.
