THE FUTURE OF COMMERCIAL GREEN SPACE MANAGEMENT

20 Oct 2022

For more than 27 years Husqvarna Automower® has been the world leader in robotic mowing and is now becoming more widely adopted by landscapers as part of their lawn care offer, especially Girls on Grass Limited in New Zealand.

Formed in 2008 by founder Emma Kunac, Girls on Grass specialise in all things gardening and commercial grounds care and are now at the forefront of the future of commercial green space management. The team have been using Husqvarna battery handheld gear for sometime and have recently selected Automower®, an innovative robotic mowing solution to support Toi Ohomai, Windermere Campus, Tauranga. This site is now home to 14 Automower® robotic mowers, the largest installation on a commercial ground in New Zealand.

For the campus site, it was important for the team to ensure the mowers were efficient and could cover the hard-to-reach spaces and steep inclines. Thanks to the range of professional Automower® models, this was possible. Husqvarna Automower® models can be installed in complex areas with narrow passages, cover large spaces up to 5000m2 and can manage slopes of up to 70 percent (35 degrees).

With all green space management, ensuring a quality job is a top priority and the team at Girls on Grass couldn’t be happier with the finish of Husqvarna Automower®, ‘the quality of finish the mowers have is second to none, you cannot beat it, these lawns are perfect all the time’ says Emma. The fleet of robotic mowers mow every day, rain, hail or shine and can be monitored from anywhere in the country, providing Emma and her team with around the clock reassurance.

Not only does Automower® provide an efficient, cost-effective solution, it’s a sustainable solution which was high on the agenda for the Girls on Grass team.  Automower® is battery powered with no direct emissions, contributing considerably to reduce emissions and towards a greener tomorrow. It’s also significantly quieter which allows for mowing in noise restricted areas and because the grass clippings are tiny, they are returned back into the lawn to serve as a natural fertiliser, resulting in a healthier lawn.
