Sustainable Urban Highway of the Future

Designs for a 93-kilometre urban highway in Dubai has been announced. The Loop by URB is a look into the future of transportation with its designs for a sustainable zero-emission transport system.

Sustainable Urban Highway of the Future

The Loop will be a public space hub for three million residents and offers the community a highway-park hybrid space. Embracing a biophilic design, The Loop features an array of plant life and vertical farms integrated into the 93-kiometre stretch of walkways and bike lanes.

Integrating sustainable living into its function and design, The Loop is run on 100 percent renewable energy and features 100 percent recycled water for its irrigation systems. As well, the urban highway will include waste recycling stations and kinetic energy tracks to help supply power to the smart energy grid.

Sustainable Urban Highway of the Future

As a city that is overrun by motor vehicle travel, The Loop is helping create a better-connected city but constructing an urban highway that connects its residents to major city attractions within 20 minutes by foot or bike travel.

As the first of its kind in the world, The Loop is a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to transportation and provides residents with not only a means safe foot and bike travel but an oasis to enjoy.
