The Daisy Hill Koala Centre was opened by the Queensland Government in 1995 and has recently undergone a large upgrade that comes in conjunction with the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The centre provides a peaceful haven in the bush for visitors and scientists to study and care for koalas.  

Greenplate’s equal access range of BBQ benches feature blue and white LED switch lighting, large signage to aid the visually impaired, and a simple and sturdy design to conform to easy access and mobility standards. The BBQs are constructed from 316 stainless-steel with the added benefit of lifetime structural warranty.

Greenplate’s installation team delivered and installed the BBQ benches onsite, including optimising connection to the customised stainless-steel fat collection system. This system allows for excess water to drain out of the bin into a rubble pit nearby, stopping fat from overflowing inside the BBQ bench. Stone work was then completed around the three sides of the benches after installation, allowing the BBQs to seamlessly fit into the surrounding theme of the Koala Centre.

This range of BBQ benches were chosen specifically to tie in with the 790-metre disability friendly pathway and toilets, therefore allowing for the Koala Centre to be a fun and leisurely community space that can be utilised by members of the public with all ranges of abilities.
