Seascape With Traxion Tahiti

A redevelopment of Rockingham Foreshore in Western Australia is currently under construction and called for BLUECHIP’s Traxion mineral-fibre commercial decking as a safe, non-slip and aesthetic solution.

The redeveloped foreshore was designed by Ecoscape to include a children’s play area, a new pathway and landscaping, as well as a new beach access ramp. The latter was supplied by BLUECHIP Decking in the form of their Traxion decking.

Traxion was born to live by the sea due to its versatile capabilities. Its strength-to-weight ratio is one of the best within the industry, it is incredibly stable and doesn't absorb moisture.

With Perth currently experiencing its longest continual period of inclement days in many decades, PHASE3 Landscaping certainly have had a challenging time, installing in this very exposed, coastal location. In fact you can see last night’s storm surge caused flooding 10 meters up the partly constructed beach ramp. However, it is telling of the temperamental weather likely to occur for this region in the future.

The challenging nature of this installation also meant that construction mess was continuously being walked over the already constructed decking areas.

Thankfully, due to Traxion’s robust nature, neither the weather nor construction were an issue. Clean up was as simple as a broom and bucket with soapy water, followed by a hose down.

With its P5 commercial slip rating, Traxion is safe for children, the elderly and for disabled access in all conditions.

With this project being in such an exposed and harsh environment with direct contact to the beach, soil and ocean, Traxion is perhaps the only product that will last. Its mineral-fibre substructure that was born of marine industries allows it to thrive in such an environment and maintain its full 25-year commercial warranty.

Traxion’s patented manufacturing methods allow it to produce boards that are entirely random. No two boards are alike in either colour or patterning, making it a truly unique aesthetic solution.

This, combined with Ecoscape’s design brief to use a combination of three board widths, really makes for a wonderful outcome. The light grey weathered look, mimics many of the old hardwood timber decks that although look stunning, require huge amounts of maintenance and indeed, need to be replaced regularly. The colour selected for this project was Tahiti.

It has even been measured to be cooler under foot, than natural oiled hardwoods so ‘escaping’ off the sand in bare feet (especially on those stifling Perth summer days), will not be an issue!

The project is nearing completion and will soon be ready for locals and visitors alike to enjoy.
