SAFETY FIRST

13 Jul 2016

As Australia’s market leader in high-friction and coloured surface treatments, STS Applied Systems’ specialist products and accredited service provide unparalleled solutions for road safety.

In business since 1998, Global Road Maintenance Systems (formerly STS Systems) Highway Division are pioneers of high-friction surface treatments for highways and roads, with unrivalled commitment and experience in specialist surfacing applications.

OMNIGRIP HF

With proven performance on Australian roads, the OMNIGRIP HF (High Friction) surfacing system comes highly recommended by Global, and is endorsed for use in the harsh Australian climate. Since 1998, the experienced Global Highway Division team has undertaken the placement of over 1.5million m2 of safety surfacing throughout Australia.

The benefits of using the OMNIGRIP HF system include increased surface texture, reduced vehicle braking distances and reduced threshold braking speeds. This specialist treatment has notable targeted accident reduction, and reductions in accident severity. It is also suitable for installation on steep inclines, blackspot areas, roundabouts and intersection treatments. The OMNIGRIP HF system will help prolong the life of asphalt when installed on new pavements.

Typical installation sites for high friction surface treatments include:

    • School and pedestrian crossings
    • Intersections and roundabouts
    • Corners and slip lanes
    • Highway on/off ramps
    • Bridge decks
    • Blackspot areas
    • Roundabouts & intersections
    • Steep Inclines

OMNIGRIP CST

OMNIGRIP CST is a skid-resistant coloured surface treatment effective for providing traffic delineation and management, increasing visibility and therefore safety on Australian Roads.

Part of the OMNIGRIP CST range is a unique resin bonded stone, known as Synthite, which carries a 5 year warranty. Also available is the OMNISPRAY CST system which includes a 1 year warranty and is widely used by Councils and TMR. STS has been actively involved in the placement of over 500,000m2 of bus lane, cycle lane and other traffic calming delineation surfaces throughout Australia and New Zealand.

The many benefits of OMNIGRIP CST include unrivalled whole-of-life value with long-term colour retention and enduring design life. This effective surfacing system has both texture depth and skid resistance rated above Australian Roads Investigatory Requirements and is easily repaired in the event of civil damage.

Typical installation sites for coloured surface treatments include:

  • Bus and cycle lanes
  • Transit and fire lanes
  • Pedestrian and school crossings
  • School and speed zone identification
  • Specialist parking delineation
  • Traffic median divides
  • Pedestrian refuge islands
  • Bus and tram stops
  • Railway crossings
  • LATM schemes

Global is a one-stop shop, doing everything from surfacing, line marking, traffic control and street sweeping, to concrete stenciling, cleaning and sealing polished concrete, concrete repairs and bridge joints. Everything from street sweeping traffic control to line-marking is done by Global's trained staff; nothing is done by third party contractors.
