The Owner and Quarry Manager, Reece Gough says the demand is Queensland wide. From developments like the $30 million Gracemere Shopping Centre to residential subdivisions the blocks are in demand. Capricorn Sandstone Quarries has become the largest supplier of stone for sawn retaining wall products in Queensland.
This parallels increasing popularity both locally and internationally in sandstone products. Over the last four years, luxury developments in Beijing and Shanghai and an ever-expanding commercial and restoration market in Sydney and South-East Queensland spurred an increase in quarry production by tenfold and it will triple again in coming years. To support the demand the quarry has expanded and opened up multiple areas for quarrying and added new equipment to the fleet. 
Last year the Company was recognised at The Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards as the 2010 Winner of the Tom Burns Award and finalist in the Regional Exporter Award and was also the 2010 Winner of the Trade Queensland Emerging Exporter of the Year Award.This year the company has continued to export to China securing ongoing supply contracts.
The quarry is above ground covering over 20 hectares and is one of the largest in Australia servicing all of Queensland and Northern New South Wales to Sydney. Uniquely the quarry contains stone in a number of distinct colours. The sandstone colours Capricorn Buff and Heritage Rose are well-known in the restoration market while Brown Banded and Q8 are very popular in China.
