The newly transformed Palm Beach Aquatic Centre on the Gold Coast is a prime example of how thoughtful design and innovative play elements can breathe new life into community spaces. More than just a splash pad, this state-of-the-art facility is a vibrant hub designed to bring excitement, invite connection, and promote inclusivity.
Urban Play, recognised experts in water play solutions, partnered with Liquid Blu Architects to transform their vision into a vibrant, multi-sensory experience. Through thoughtful product selection and a deep understanding of play design, Urban Play helped bring the natural beauty of Currumbin Creek and Palm Beach into the space all while championing accessibility, inclusivity, and sustainability.

The splash pad operates on a fully enclosed water system, which minimises water wastage to only evaporation and runoff. This sustainable design element complements the space’s eco-friendly approach. A creek runs through the splash pad, dividing the area into different zones tailored for young children and people of various ages and abilities. This innovative design enhances both the aesthetic appeal and the inclusivity of the space, ensuring everyone can engage and play together in a safe, accessible environment.
Liquid Blu Architects are particularly fond of the waterfall three-basin water feature, which they describe as their favourite. “It provides universal access and facilitates play, catering to children of all ages, heights, and abilities. It also serves as a visual marker across the landscape, denoting the waterplay zone for the facility. It’s both fun and functional—a perfect fit for a playground!”
