On The Boardwalk

Suspended above the forests of Norway’s Hamaren Activity Park, this new one-kilometre-long elevated walkway follows the natural topography of the environment. Suitable for pedestrians and cyclists alike, the boardwalk grants visitors public access to experience the beauty of the natural surrounds.

On The Boardwalk

The six-feet-wide and one-kilometre-long elevated trail pairs exceptional design with environmental sustainability. Skirting around Lake Fyresvatn and leading to the summit of Klokkarhamaren, the boardwalk’s design is attuned to the natural topography of the land, creating a beautiful curved trail for walkers to embark on. Catering to pedestrians, cyclists, individuals with strollers and wheelchair users, the boardwalk makes inclusivity a priority in its design and can be universally shared by everyone.

On The Boardwalk

Crafted from locally sourced pinewood, the boardwalk harmoniously blends into the surrounding landscape flourishing with pine trees. The use of local timber materials and local craftsmen for the project pays homage to Fyresdal’s logging history.

On The Boardwalk

Throughout the construction process, EFFEKT and Aamalid devised a plan to create a wooden building system that relies on small prefabricated elements. This helped to streamline the transportation of materials with minimal site impact.

On The Boardwalk

The boardwalk is a great example of sustainable design that will provide the community a great outdoor trail to explore for generations to come.
