South Australian-based Craig Norman has been announced as the new President of Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA).

New NGIA President

The new President for Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA) is Craig Norman, Managing Director of Wholesale Plants and Products Pty Ltd, based in South Australia.

 

Craig has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry and has been a board member since 2008. Formerly the Vice-President, he replaces Bryan Hillier who has retired from the Board.

 

The President of Nursery & Garden Industry Victoria, Glenn Fenton, is the new Vice President of NGIA. Glenn is Managing Director of Nationwide Trees Pty Ltd and joined the industry 10 years ago after a distinguished career in the Australian Defence Forces.

 

The new Board was elected at the Annual General Meeting and Board Meeting held in Hobart last week.

Michael is co-owner of Elegant Outdoors Retail Nursery in Sydney

Simon Smith, Northern Territory
Owner of Girraween Nursery near Darwin

Colin Groom, Western Australia
Manager of Domus Wholesale Nursery in Perth

Russ Higginbotham, Queensland
Principal of Asset Horticultural Consultants, based in Brisbane

Mark Geeves, Tasmania
From the Tasmanian Polytechnic learning centre

 

Retiring directors who had completed their terms were Gary Eyles, NSW; Geoff Richards, WA; Fergus Higson, NT; and Bryan Hillier from Queensland.

 

“I am delighted to take on the position of President and continue to keep the industry moving in the right direction. Our new Board is focussed on ensuring that the industry is recognised for the products it grows and sells, and our contribution to the Australian environment and lifestyle,” said Craig.

 

“We are also committed to meeting the aim and objectives of our Industry Strategic Plan to ensure that our industry is productive, profitable and sustainable,” added Craig.
