Named Murnalung Park by local Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Elders, the greenspace takes its name from the word meaning “bee” - a nod to the park’s intended role as a social gathering place.
Designed with everyday use in mind, the park will feature a large children’s playground, scooter track, exercise equipment and picnic areas, alongside open spaces that can host community markets and neighbourhood events. New pedestrian and cycling links will also better connect the surrounding area as redevelopment continues across the site.

Murnalung Park is expected to open mid-2026, before completion of the nearby Holland Court housing development, which will deliver 286 new homes to the inner-city suburb. The redevelopment marks one of the largest transformations currently underway in Flemington, with the former public housing estate gradually evolving into a more mixed-use neighbourhood focused on public spaces, connectivity and higher-density living. Beyond Murnalung Park itself, the precinct will feature a pocket park, amphitheatre, forecourt and improved pedestrian and cycling pathways, better connecting the site to the neighbourhood.
According to Housing and Building Minister Nick Staikos, “Holland Court is going to be a vibrant, modern, green space for local families – both those who live there and the wider community."
Once complete, Murnalung Park is expected to become one of the key outdoor gathering points for the growing local community, adding another family-friendly green space to Melbourne’s inner north-west.
