NATIONAL AWARDS ANNOUNCED

The 2012 National Awards for Local Government recognise innovation and excellence in 16 categories of governance and service delivery.
ALGA has extended its congratulations to the many category winners of the 2012 National Awards for Local Government announced this week by Federal Minister for Local Government, Simon Crean.

The winners in each category were announced on 19 April 2012.
Highlighting this year's awards is the performance of eleven small councils with fewer than 15,000 rateable properties.
The 2012 Awards reflect achievement in sixteen categories including several new ones: Active Arts; Energy Smart; Road Safety; Services to Remote Communities; Natural Resource Management; Land-Use Planning; Rural and Remote Health, and Strength in Diversity.
The category winners will be considered for the overall 2012 National Award for Excellence in Local Government, to be announced in June 2012.
