MICRO-ENVIRONMENT FOR GROWING CROPS

03 Dec 2020

AGRODOME is a transparent, breathable, stackable and portable system that allows crops to grow and germinate directly on the field.

Created by Mexico City based design consultancy NOS, AGRODOME is a new way for germinating and growing crops directly on the field.

Transparent, breathable, stackable and portable, these small micro-environments allow farmers to plant and germinate directly on the ground without needing to transplant the sprouts from a greenhouse to their final destination.

Made from recycled PET, AGRODOME is a fully recyclable product. The modularity of the domes means they can be mass-produced at an affordable price. It also means the domes can be easily stacked for better storage and transportation, and moved and rotated around the field depending on the farming and harvest cycles.

The height of the dome can be regulated depending on the stages of the plant by inserting more or less of the central stake. The central part also works as a funnel to let the water flow directly from the dome to underneath the ground for better absorption and water distribution.
