MEET LIME TUFF’S LITTLE BROTHER, LITTLELIME!

22 Aug 2019

With just as much vibrancy, strength and durability as its big brother Lime Tuff, Lomandra LittleLime from Greenhills Propagation offers a smaller and more compact habit that is perfect for landscapes and streetscapes.

Lomandra LittleLime is a versatile Australian native derived from the popular Lomandra Lime Tuff from Ramm Botanicals. It offers the same brilliant lime green colour that Lime Tuff is known and recognised for, but differs in form with finer foliage and a habit that is a smaller, more rounded tuft.

LittleLime is unique with its perfect cylindrical shape and can be mixed with other Lomandra varieties to create levels of depth in gardens and landscapes. It is the ideal grass for low borders and large landscape projects, and is especially favourable for government roadside applications as its small habit will not obstruct the view of traffic.

Not only does LittleLime have a myriad of uses, it also offers surprising strength and durability, having proven to withstand short periods of frost with temperatures as low as -3°c. It’s also moderately drought tolerant, surviving in areas reaching up to 40°c, is suitable for coastal areas, and can adapt to clay and heavy soils.

LittleLime is an easy-care landscape option that will grow in the same situations as Lime Tuff, so you can plant it with confidence for your next project. This little tuft is male, with flowers forming close to the base that are not easy to detect. Because of this, LittleLime has little to no maintenance requirements as no deadheading is necessary.

LittleLime will grow in full sun and shaded areas, and retains its vibrant colour in any situation. By staying lush all year round, LittleLime provides excellent contrast in large gardens and works well as an accent plant. Other than the occasional cut back to promote good health, LittleLime is a variety you can rely on to thrive in the landscape for years to come.

Height 40 – 50cm

Width 50 – 70cm
