A rest area in North Queensland received an upgrade with European flair from Advanced Lighting Technologies, with the new Arcluce architectural lighting range providing much needed illumination in the public space.
Home to the Big Mango, Bowen, located approximately 160km south of Townsville, is a small country town often used by tourists as a place to stretch their legs and refuel during journeys along the beautiful Queensland coast.
In need of a lighting upgrade, the Department of Transport & Main Roads commissioned The Solar Group to install a LED lighting solution that not only looked great but could withstand the constant salty ocean air and the possibility of strong cyclonic winds and other extreme weather conditions.
Advanced Lighting Technologies (ADLT) was commissioned to provide a robust, controllable, 360° post-top luminaire that generated no upward light pollution. ADLT’s outstanding new range of Italian-designed architectural light fittings from Arcluce – the Arcluce Lunio – was the perfect solution.
Made from a light and robust material, the Lunio features classic and modern design elements merged together to create a stunning luminaire, perfect for grand promenades, business districts, shopping centres, and parks. The Lunio can be supplied with DALI dimming controls and features a double layer of protective paint that is resistant to corrosion, salt spray and UV rays.
Upon completion the client was absolutely thrilled, lauding the look of the luminaires during both the day and night. ADLT are confident that the thousands of travellers passing through the area each year will agree!
