Paradise Plants have been breeding Lavender for over thirty years, with a focus on developing tidy, disease resistant varieties which will thrive throughout Australia.

A large part of this breeding focuses on Spanish Lavender (Lavender pedunculata), and their hybrids. This group of lavenders are tough, drought hardy perennials, which thrive on dry, sloping sites. They also love sandy conditions and are salt tolerant. These lavenders are not suitable for cooking, but are great for gardens, cut flowers & potpourri. They come in many different colours and are great for attracting bees, butterflies and birds to your garden.

A recent breeding breakthrough has resulted in a new range of Spanish lavenders which have enormous double flower heads. These are being called LavishTM lavenders and have been developed right here in Australia. They are available in many different colours Lavish Musk, Lavish Rose, Lavish Purple and Lavish Blue.

Lavender Lavish Purple

Regular Spanish lavenders have just a few wings at the top of the flower, whereas LavishTM lavender have highly fragrant, gorgeous wings all the way down the flower head, creating double the impact. The bigger the plants get, the more flowers they produce.

All lavenders contain fragrant essential oils and when planted strategically will release a beautiful perfume when anyone brushes past them. The flowers can be harvested for potpourri or cut-flower displays. Although tolerant of very dry conditions, best results are obtained from mulching well and regular watering. Most are well suited to growing in tubs or pots.
