Located on the second floor of a shopping centre, the Iobi Super School is an innovatively designed kindergarten space that delivers functional flexibility in its outdoor and indoor areas. Designed by VMPDE to create an open space learning environment to fit the brief.

The one question in mind throughout the design process was, what kind of outdoor teaching spaces do children need?

The three main spaces VMPDE decided are most important to easily accomodate outdoor teaching is outdoor sports, outdoor classes and outdoor festivals. The finished design and construction of the Iobi Super School is a one-of-a-kind playspace that includes multifaceted areas for teaching and play.Iobi Super School includes a variety of activity areas such as a theatre, kinder art gallery, children’s kitchen and multifunctional playspaces for outdoor learning and play.

As the kindergarten is situated on an outdoor terrace in the middle of a bustling city centre, plant life is difficult to grow. The use of numerous flowerbeds, including an array of different lush greenery, helps bring life and the natural outdoors to the sheltered kindergarten. Innovative thinking throughout the project is also seen in the placement of structures where boundary spaces are created to accommodate to different weather conditions.

The Iobi Super School is a fun-filled kindergarten for children to learn the beginning stages of life and creating joyous memories in a safe and colourful environment. VMPDE has designed this welcoming space with functional flexibility for play areas to also be educational. Through thoughtful and innovative thinking, the Iobi Super School is a vibrant kindergarten with standards that will be copied by other learning centres in the years to come.
