GUERRILLA GARDENING
07 May 2012
A guerrilla-style garden project in Tasmania has turned an outdated and overgrown area into a neat, maintenance free public space to be enjoyed.
At 4.30am on a Sunday morning, when most residents of Launceston were still fast asleep, Tassie Artificial Turf carried out a guerrilla garden-style project in Launceston’s northern suburbs, laying a 6m2 piece of turf in a busy shopping area outside Mowbray Pizza Hut.
Working without permission, Tassie Artificial Turf’s Jade Child beautified an overgrown, outdated, high-maintenance area into a neat, maintenance-free space that the public can enjoy.
“After walking past this overgrown area, which had clearly been neglected over the past five years, I decided I would take it into my own hands and do something that would improve its appearance and make it maintenance-free forever,” says designer Jade.
A lot of interest in the impressive early-morning effort has been shown by both the public and the media. “The feedback has been great - two local newspapers have put me in the paper!” says Jade.
Tassie Artificial Turf supplies and installs artificial turf in the landscapes of residential and commercial projects around Tasmania. Jobs vary in size from as little as 10m2 to large 200m2 projects.
