The 2012 Australian Green Development Forum will be held July 4 in Brisbane and July 13 in Sydney, and will feature special guest speakers Janis Birkeland and Caroline Pidcock.
Janis Birkeland has been Professor of Sustainable Design at the University of Auckland since 2011, and previously Professor of Architecture at QUT, Brisbane. Janis served as Federal Government’s Senior Environmental Education Officer whilst in Australia. Books published include Design for Sustainability (2002) and Positive Development (2008). Her main research contribution is Positive Development, which critiqued and overturned 30 years of sustainability theory with a paradigm shift from ‘less harmful’ to eco-positive.
Caroline Pidcock is the passionate force who started PIDCOCK – Architecture + Sustainability. She has genuine interest and experience in sustainable built environments, and with the assistance of her great team, is currently exploring how we can approach every project as an opportunity to regenerate and transform using the Living Building Challenge.
