EMBRACE THE LANDSCAPE
01 Oct 2014
The largest industry feature garden of its kind, Embrace the Landscape was a huge success at this year’s Australian Garden Show Sydney.
In a first ever, the LNA presented a feature garden titled ‘Embrace the Landscape’ at this year’s Australian Garden Show Sydney.
Taking on the build of a feature garden is certainly not for the faint hearted. The concept, design and construction of a show garden can be likened to competing in an Olympics or running a marathon.
The concept of uniting all disciplines that make up the landscape industry was achieved and ‘Embrace the Landscape’ provided a singular platform for all to enquire, engage and work together as a collaborative.
The largest industry feature garden of its kind, ‘Embrace the Landscape’ served as an anchor at the show and a shelter for visitors during the rainy spells.
There was no budget for the build and the LNA was reliant on contractor and supplier members to work together to deliver the feature garden. Full marks to major sponsor Alpine Nurseries for supplying truckloads of plant material which enhanced the overall garden. The ‘Embrace the Landscape’ feature garden is testament to the grit and determination of members who demonstrated agility and a can-do attitude.
Head teachers and students from both Padstow and Illawarra TAFE Institutes took the opportunity to work closely with experienced contractors during the construction of the feature garden and learned a thing or two.
Many would not have been aware that two substructures were constructed as we needed to contend with two weeks of wet weather. The team worked tirelessly around the clock and over the weekend to deliver the feature garden on time.
The LNA would like to wholeheartedly thank the many contributors to the ‘Embrace the Landscape’ feature garden.
