CREATING INCLUSIVE PLAYSPACES WITH SIDE-BY-SLIDE™

Play Workshop understands playtime is for everyone and that means mobility devices need to move easily around play equipment. With this in mind, Play Workshop are dedicated to manufacturing and designing play equipment for all ages and abilities to enable a fun and easy experience for all parkgoers and creating a happy, inclusive playspace.

After consulting with parents and children who use mobility devices and Touched By Olivia, a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to promote social inclusion through play, Play Workshop designed and manufactured the Side-by-Slide™ an inclusive play equipment for all ages and abilities.

Using Australian locally supplied materials, the inclusive slide boasts extra width and support so children and adults can ride side by side. With a side bench, extra back support, a handle on the run out section, users can sit safely at the bottom and there is plenty of time to get mobility devices organised. At the top, a wedged platform provides room for movement and access from mobility devices to the slide. The convenient heights and additional handles make playtime easy and inclusive. Prior to its manufacturing the Side-by-Slide™ was assessed and certified as compliant under AS4685.

Play Workshop also design, manufacture and sell stainless steel slides of all shapes and sizes that are Australian-made. The extremely durable material is perfect to withstand the everchanging Australian weather conditions and can stand the test of time. As well, those using cochlear implants will not have to worry about damaging them as stainless steel does not create static electricity that normally can harm the implants.
