CONTAMINANT-FREE STORMWATER

03 Jun 2021

With extensive experience across many different environmental projects, Evolve Environmental Solutions has helped to ensure healthy waterways in the Logan region.

In accordance with the stormwater water management plan for the Harvest Rise Estate at Park Ridge, a 950m² bioretention basin has been stripped of turf and builder’s silt and planted and mulched by Evolve Environmental Solutions. This ensures the development achieves its stormwater treatment obligations and cleans stormwater runoff during rain events. Evolve Environmental Solutions has extensive experience across many different types of environmental projects including stormwater management, revegetation and rehabilitation landscape construction.

Harvest Rise is situated 34kms from the Brisbane CBD, adjacent to the Mt Lindsey Highway, located in close proximity to the essential and recreation services of the Park Ridge area. A short drive to local schools, The Park Ridge Town Centre and conveniently located to the Park Ridge Park ‘n’ Ride. The Estate enjoys natural scenery overlooking reservation to the north and is surrounded by some of the region’s best parklands, shopping, local markets and lifestyle attractions.

Evolve Environmental Solutions was engaged by Intrapac to undertake the work involving the construction of a 950m² bioretention basin as part of the Harvest Rise Estate. The basin acts as stormwater treating system that filters nutrients, silt and other waste matter out of stormwater from roads, houses, gardens etc prior to flowing into waterways.

The scope of work Evolve Environmental Solutions undertook included:

  • Preparing the site, including the removal of existing turf and silt from the surface
  • Installation of over 5,000 plants in June 2020
  • Testing the basin’s hydraulic conductivity ensuring the media acts as a filter system
  • Flushing pipes to ensure engineering work was functional

Prior to handing the basin as an asset to Council, the Evolve Team will check the hydraulic conductivity once more to ensure the basin continues performing within industry parameters.

Harvest Rise is setting a new standard in sustainable community living, boasting a six leaf Enviro Development Certification that is superior to other communities, providing healthy lifestyle benefits and energy savings to their community. A wide leafy entrance leads to a walkable neighbourhood design, enhanced by its green corridor and leafy streets, with local shops, schools and parks just minutes away. Evolve are pleased to have played a small part in ensuring stormwater leaving the Harvest Rise site is free of contaminants, ensuring healthy waterways in the Logan region.
