COMMUNICATION, PLANNING AND SOIL

24 Oct 2019

The construction of the exciting new residential and community development South Village Kirrawee, required 2000 cubic metres of soil to be installed quickly and efficiently. Why was The Hills Bark Blower the ideal company for the job?

The Hills Bark Blower was the preferred company to install a huge amount of growing media for stage two of South Village Kirrawee by Green Fern Landscaping. Two thousand cubic metres of The Hills B Horizon Mix and The Hills Lightweight Planter Box Mix were installed into two large podiums and three smaller podiums via the company’s pneumatic Blower Trucks.

The Hills was the answer to the challenge of delivering such a large volume of soil in an efficient and cost-effective manner, all with limited disruption to other trades onsite. The entire installation process was completed within two weeks, demonstrating just how valuable hiring The Hills Bark Blower can be.

PUBLIC SHOPPING CENTRE

Stage one of the project was carried out before the shopping centre area was open, however the second stage of the Kirrawee construction site coincided with the centre being opened to the general public. The Hills Bark Blower staff took great care to have minimum impact on the day-to-day centre operations while pumping the large soil volume into place.

PLANNING DONE WELL

Shane Abdenour, Project Manager for Green Fern Landscaping has extensive experience in coordinating new greenspace builds on large scale construction sites throughout the Sydney area.

“The Project Manager for The Hills Bark Blower, Chris Furnari, made sure the large installation went smoothly and that all aspects of planning were strategically approached throughout the duration of the project,” explained Abdenour. “Green Fern Landscaping, the site builder and The Hills Bark Blower were all involved in clear communication and planning well before the soil installation commenced to ensure an incredibly efficient and smooth process.”

EASY ACCESS WITH THE BARK BLOWER

The Hills Bark Blower trucks accessed the site with hoses set up on the side of the building from three vantage points to make reaching the various podiums easier. The Bark Blower trucks can pump up to 300 metres away or 30 floors high into construction sites. The unique and powerful machines were able to competently pump the materials onto the site with ease.

SOIL TESTING A MUST

The Hills Bark Blower’s entire range of soil mixes are tested quarterly to various specifications as well as requirements from Australian Standard 4419, 3743 and additional environmental testing to ensure the best performance.
